Benchmark started as a construction robotics company, and it shows in who runs it. All three of us are civil engineers. We've worked jobsites, lumber yards, and family building businesses — and then went deep on the technology. Forty-plus combined years across construction and engineering, all pointed at one problem: reading plans the way a builder does.
Joel Bell
President
Joel is a third-generation construction professional and a civil engineer. He's overseen more than $500M in construction projects and knows exactly how a bad takeoff turns into a bad month on site.
At Benchmark he runs strategy, growth, and partnerships. In practice that means one thing: making sure customers get faster, more accurate numbers than they had before.
Pavneet Tiwana
Chief Product Officer
Pavneet trained as a civil engineer, then went to Georgia Tech for a Master's in computer science — the exact combination Benchmark is built on. He's also founded a startup before, so he's used to building things that have to work, not just demo.
He leads product: the pipeline that takes a messy real-world plan set and turns it into structured, production-ready data your team can actually use.
Lucas Ford, PhD
Chief Technology Officer
Lucas holds a PhD in civil engineering, specializing in optimization systems, and grew up around residential construction. He's spent his career teaching machines to solve building problems.
As CTO he owns the engine — the AI and infrastructure behind every takeoff — and makes sure it stays fast, accurate, and reliable as volume grows.
